Cable Experts Necessary

An hour later, Redman and Jesse arrived within view of New Adelaide. It was well lit for a city nobody lived in yet, which caught Redman by surprise. As they drove through the streets with hundreds of buildings under construction, he wondered whether the original Adelaide had looked anything like this.

“So, where exactly are we going?” Redman asked. “I’m all for getting away from that Gideon guy, even if he offers easy and effective ways to enhance my wifi signal at home, but I do actually need to know our destination.”

“Don’t worry,” Jesse said, “you can’t miss it. Big property firm offering both conveyancing and buyer’s advocacy services on the main street. Just continue this way. And believe me, in new Adelaide a cabling expert like Gideon won’t be necessary. You won’t need to hire a Foxtel provider or commercial data cabling professional. Offering service around Melbourne Gideon may be, but his whole goal is to make sure New Adelaide can never be a reality. We cannot co-exist.”

Redman glanced at Jesse. “Have you tried negotiating with him? You never know; cable installation experts can be pretty reasonable in my experience.”

Jesse shook his head. “It’s no use. While we both intend to ensure there are no more elites, Gideon is an extremist. He thinks that complete and utter destruction is the only solution. New Adelaidians believe that we can find a better way, without the loss of life.”

Redman nodded. If what Jesse said was true, it made sense to not work with Gideon. That said, there was every chance that Jesse had no idea what he was talking about – that he’d been fed lies to believe that Gideon really was the bad guy. Honestly, Redman didn’t know enough about the situation either way to make that call. However, the TV installer had sent his magic tattoo man after Redman, so that was at least enough to put him more on New Adelaide’s side… for now.
