Tattoo Cover Up

I don’t know what to tell you guys, but maybe don’t get a couples tattoo. I used to always think couple tattoos were a bad decision. Then I ended up in a two-year relationship with a woman who I thought was the love of my life. I honestly loved my ex-girlfriend so much and thought we’d end up spending our whole lives together. Unfortunately, she had different plans.

For our second anniversary, I thought it would be good for us to get matching tattoos done. The theme of the tattoos was anime characters. She would get an animated version of me on her wrist and I’d get an animated version of her. She absolutely loved the idea! We came together because of our love for anime, so it seemed like the perfect way to symbolise our love for each other. My girlfriend even went as far as framing the anime designs drawn by the tattooist. Brisbane had a really popular tattoo artist who specialised in anime, so I chased them high and low to make sure they would be the one to do the job.

When the tattoo was done, the first thing my girlfriend did was get emotional. She thought it was a beautiful moment for us to share and couldn’t help but tear up with joy. As soon as our tattoos healed, we took a close-up photo of our tattoos as we held hands.

Little did I know that ten months later, those tattoos would mean nothing. Now I’m stuck with this tattoo of a girl who doesn’t even want me in her life. I’ve been researching great cover-up tattoo ideas as it’s clear to me that she’s not coming back. I waited months, hoping she’d change her mind but sadly she never resurfaced. I’m thinking about changing her anime character into a zombie. That way it’s still something that looks cool, but also a bit humorous as it takes a dig at our dead relationship. Yes, I admit it – I love a bit of dark humour to get through the tough times.
